Learn about our extensive drilling and completions experience, including horizontal, conventional, and unconventional wells — from engineering to regulatory support and wellsite supervision.
Horizontal & Directional Oil Well Drilling & Completions
CG provided the engineering, regulatory and wellsite supervision support as well as service procurement for the drilling and completion of a horizontal & directional oil wells located near Wetaskiwin, Alberta.
CG provided all engineering support and licensed the well with the AER. The horizontal well was drilled with resistivity while drilling tools to hit optimal reservoir.
The horizontal well has a barefoot completion as well as coil tubing logging and perforating. It was setup with a pump jack for pumping operations.
The directional well was perforated, swabbed, and setup with a pump jack for pumping operations.

Wellsite Supervision & Engineering Support for Heavy Oil Drilling
CG provided wellsite supervision and engineering support for the drilling of five heavy oil wells (4 deviated, 1 vertical) near Cold Lake, AB.
The engineering services provided included programming, procurement, regulatory submissions (IOGC & AER), cost control and analysis.

Multi-zone Horizontal Completion & Vertical Well Abandonments
CG provided the engineering support and supervision for a multi-zone horizontal completion near Red Earth, AB that included a 690 tonne, 23 stage frac performed on a Optiport liner system (with coil in the hole).
CG also provided the engineering support and supervision for the abandonment of three vertical, light oil wells in this area.

Directional Gas Well Drilling, Completion & Pipeline Installation
CG provided the engineering, regulatory and wellsite supervision support for the drilling, completions, workovers and pipeline installation of various wells located near Wetaskiwin, AB.
10 conventional gas wells were vertically or directionally drilled to approximately 1500 meters each. Two of these wells were drilled on an Indian Reserve; CG Engineering provided all of the IOGC environmental and technical work for the permit application to drill on Indian Reserve Land.
These wells were subsequently completed (some with multiple targets), tested and at that point, either put on production or abandoned.
The wells were then optimized with the use of acid squeezes, reservoir fracturing, plunger lifts and reciprocating pumps. Production and operations were then managed, tracked and reported by CG on a daily and monthly basis; this includes regulatory compliance, health, safety and environment concerns in the area.
CG engineered, licensed and built single well batteries, multi-well facilities and pipeline infrastructure to produce these wells.

Deep Horizontal Shale Gas Drilling, Completions, and Workovers
CG provided the engineering, regulatory support and wellsite supervision for the drilling, completions and workovers of various wells in Northeast British Columbia including the Fort St. John and Fort Nelson areas.
These wells typically were deeper horizontal wells, targeting the tight shale gas plays of the Montney and Viking formations. CG has experience in most or all of the Northeast BC strike zones.
CG has also provided engineering, regulatory support and wellsite supervision for the drilling, completion and workovers of both class II and class Ib water disposal wells in this area.
CG completed the downhole abandonment of 7 wells in the Bubbles and Jedney areas. This program included wellfile review, engineered abandonment programs (including cut and cap and SCVF remediation), complete field supervision and regulatory submissions (during and following the project).

Wellsite Supervision & Completion for Horizontal Heavy Oil & Disposal Wells
CG provided the engineering, regulatory support and wellsite supervision for the completion of two horizontal heavy oil wells and one water disposal well near Seal Lake, AB.
The completions involved running slotted liners through horizontal legs and a progressive cavity pump installation. These wells were subsequently tested and put onto production.
CG was also responsible for the engineering, licensing and construction of the heavy oil batteries associated with the three wells.
Once the wells were put onto production, CG Engineering managed the production and operations of these three wells including tracking and reporting production on a daily and monthly basis as well as managing regulatory compliance, health, safety and the environment for this area.

SAGD Drilling & Completions
CG provided engineering and supervision support to drill and complete numerous SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) wells near Fort McMurray, AB.
