Learn about our salt cavern storage well experience — from salt cavern engineering and design to drilling, completions, and disposal well maintenance.

Salt Cavern Tubing String Replacement

CG provided wellsite supervision and engineering support to replace the first joint of tubing on a salt cavern disposal well that was unable to dispose product.

When the tubing string was pulled up each joint was found to be full of holes. The decision was made to replace the entire string of tubing.

The tubing was replaced and the well was put back online for disposal.

MIT Logging Supervision for Gas Cavern Wells

CG Engineering provided wellsite supervision for the Mechanical Integrity Test (MIT) logging of two gas cavern wells in Windsor Ontario, as required by Plains Midstream.

Prior to MIT logging, a significant amount of maintenance and tubing replacement work was done to ensure the wells were set up correctly.

The wellbores were pressured up with N2 and then logged after stabilization to locate the Brine/N2 interface.

The position and movement of the Brine/N2 interface gave Plains an understanding of the quality and integrity of the cavern for further operation.

Both logging operations were carried out under Ontario Provincial regulations and both wells passed CSA regulations for cavern operation.
