Read more about our broad experience with water disposal well projects — from engineering to regulatory support, drilling, wellsite supervision, and disposal well reactivation.
Full Service Water Disposal Well Drilling, Recompletions, and Zonal Abandonment
CG provided the engineering, regulatory support and wellsite supervision for the drilling and completion of a water disposal well in Northeast British Columbia.
A new disposal well was required. CG filed all the regulatory requirements and licensed the new drill in British Columbia.
The well was drilled and completed to 2 horizons with perforations and fracturing. The deeper zone was suspended. The shallower zone was setup for water disposal and put online.
The well was then needing to be recompleted and the original disposal zone abandoned.
CG provided engineering expertise and field supervision for all field activities.

Water Disposal Well Workovers to Increase Disposal Capacity
CG Engineering provided engineering, regulatory and wellsite support to increase disposal capacity by stimulating a water disposal well in Northeast British Columbia.
A water disposal well was acidized with rock salt diversion. The bottom hole assembly was found to be leaking. The tubing string was replaced, and a baseline temp log was ran.
Later, the well was re-perforated. A re-dressed injection packer and coated injection tubing were ran back into the well and the well was put back on injection.

Water Disposal Well Re-activation
CG provided engineering, regulatory support, and wellsite supervision to perform due diligence on a water disposal well reactivation in Northeast BC.
The original injection bottom hole assembly would not pressure test so it was pulled out of the hole. The casing was inspected and the cement top was found to be acceptable for water injection operations.
A new coated packer and coated injection tubing string was ran into the hole so the well could be setup for water disposal.
The well then had a baseline temperature log ran before cold water was pumped and another temperature log was ran to confirm zonal isolation.
The well had recorders set for one week, which were then pulled and a reverse static gradient performed.

Water Disposal Well Conversion & Facility Construction
CG provided engineering, regulatory support, and wellsite supervision on a water disposal well conversion and facility construction.
A well candidate was selected to be converted from a producer to a water disposal well. CG filed the required regulatory documentation and received all the necessary approvals to complete the work.
The well had the producing formations abandoned. The well was logged to prove casing and cement integrity as well to gather a base line temperature log.
The disposal formation was then acidized, and a step rate test was performed for regulatory. The well was setup for disposal operations and put online.
An injection skid and two 400 barrel tanks were installed and commissioned for operation.

Water Disposal Well Re-activation
CG provided the engineering, regulatory and wellsite supervision support for well diagnostics and well conversion.
The wells had tubing leaks, annular pressure test failures, and yearly regulatory requirements.
CG performed proper well diagnostics and replaced faulty bottom hole tubing and packers as well as surface coated master valves and tubing hangers.
To get the wells back online, the required temperature and casing inspection logs were run and pressure recorders installed.

Full Service Water Disposal Well Completion
CG provided the engineering, regulatory support and wellsite supervision for the drilling and completion of a water disposal well in Northern Alberta.
CG completed all necessary regulatory approvals then completed all field activities including a full build lease construction, drill, and complete.
This included all required testing and logging for water disposal. The well was drilled, cased and cemented just above the disposal zone.
The service rig drilled out the casing into the disposal zone. The disposal formation was fractured and setup for disposal operations.

Water Disposal Well Licensing, Drilling & Completions
CG provided the engineering, regulatory support and wellsite supervision for the drilling and completion of two water disposal wells in Southeast Saskatchewan.
The well was vertically drilled with directional tools for anti-collision. The completions involved testing of the disposal zone to satisfy the requirements for licensing.
All regulatory applications were completed by CG to obtain the minister’s order and drilling license for water disposal wells in Saskatchewan.

Suspended Gas Well Recompletion & Conversion to Disposal Well
CG provided pre-well planning, programming, procurement services and wellsite supervision to re-complete a suspended gas well in order to convert the well into a Class 1b disposal well.
The zone was re-completed, stimulated and tested as per Directive 051 requirements.
CG also provided cost tracking and analysis throughout the project as well as all necessary Directive 051 and Directive 065 applications and end of well submission to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER).
